New adventures are around the corner. Make way for 2022! We say this every 365 days, but here it is, happy new year! May you have good health, oozes of happiness, So. Much. Joy. and lots of fun new beginnings.  May you look forward to each and every day in the new year with wonderful experiences and many many sparkling moments!

In the new year, each small decision we make daily can lead to a different path. Life is not a set menu. It’s a mystery that unfolds every single day and uncertainty is our only certainty. We don’t have control over what curveballs life throws our way this new year, but we can control our reactions and actions.

Many people hate goal setting because they sabotage when not reaching those goals. But instead, by setting intentions and closely aligning your actions to your set intentions, we can better keep on the path we have chosen. Goals are great but sometimes they can put pressure on us to chase that external outcome and get lost in the fun of life. Intentions on the other hand align us with our purpose and when we are clear on our intention we have alot more fun in life. This is why setting new intentions is a powerful tool to learn.

What are the best ways to set new intentions?

  1. By asking yourself questions. What brings you joy? What kind of life would you need to live in order to feel purposeful? What would you do differently if you had more confidence?
  2. Affirmations and mantras. Examples are: I intend to practice self care daily. I intend to take one action daily for the next 100 days. I intend to make my creativity a priority. I intend to be kind even when under pressure.
  3. When working on bigger goals, chunk down to smaller goals and reset your intentions monthly and daily.

Very important factor to setting intentions is to make sure your intentions are stated in the positive. For example Instead of saying you’re not going to live with fear anymore, say instead ‘I intend to trust more freely and confidently design my own life.’

Remember, you can set your intentions for the new year, new month, new day or even a new moment. At any given moment during the day, for example if you are stressed, you can close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and think to yourself or say out loud, “when I open my eye, my new intention is to feel the new calm.” Another example: if you are feeling anxious before you hop on a call, you can close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and think to yourself or say out loud, “when I open my eyes, my new intention is to be the most confident version of myself.” And then embody that version of you when you open your eyes.
